What Is Not Covered
The APX Knives Limited Lifetime Warranty does not cover issues resulting from misuse, abuse, or neglect. Specifically, the following are excluded from warranty coverage:
- Loss, theft, or damage due to improper handling.
- Broken tips, chipped edges, or bent blades caused by misuse (e.g., prying, throwing, or using the knife as a tool for unintended purposes).
- Normal wear and tear, including scratches, worn coatings, or oxidation (rust) on the blade.
- Damage from improper sharpening or modifications to the knife.
- Natural variations in materials, such as color or texture differences in handles or blade finishes.
- Use of knives with a blade thickness of 1/8″ or less for chopping or batoning, which may be considered misuse.
APX Knives are designed for rugged use, but they must be cared for properly to maintain their performance. Misuse of the knife for purposes other than its intended function will void the warranty. APX Knives reserves the right to determine what constitutes “fair use” versus “abuse.” If you’re unsure, please contact us before using your knife in a way that might affect warranty coverage.
Blade Care and Maintenance
Many APX Knives are crafted from 1095 high-carbon steel, a durable material known for its toughness and edge retention. To enhance durability, we differentially heat-treat our blades, hardening the edge to 54–56 Rockwell while leaving the spine softer to prevent breakage. However, high-carbon steel can rust if not properly maintained.
To ensure the longevity of your knife:
- Regularly clean and dry the blade after use.
- Apply a light coat of oil to exposed steel areas, especially on the cutting edge and any engraved sections, to prevent rust.
- For knives with camouflage or specialty finishes, oil the entire blade to protect against corrosion.
Proper care will help your American made tactical knives last a lifetime.
Blade Coating Information
APX Knives uses a high-quality epoxy-based powder coating on most blades to protect against corrosion and wear. This coating is baked on for durability and has been independently tested to withstand:
- 1000+ hours of saltwater exposure.
- Solvent resistance and adhesion tests.
- Impact resistance challenges.
While the coating is designed to last, aggressive use against hard surfaces (e.g., metal) or exposure to harsh chemicals may cause scratches or marring. Using the knife for its intended purpose will ensure the coating’s longevity.
Sharpening and Refinishing Services
We offer a free sharpening service for the original purchaser, covering the blade edge for the lifetime of the knife. If your knife’s surface becomes scratched or worn from heavy use, we can refinish it for a small fee. Shipping costs to and from APX Knives for these services are the responsibility of the customer.
